GREATEST LIFE EXPERIENCE: The 2nd Semester of my senior year of High School was all sorts of Karma coming back to reward me. After having won the all-state orchestra spot from central iowa that year, all-state jazz band, and numerous outstanding soloist awards including one of the 4 given out at the Iowa Jazz Championships, my desire to achieve was pretty fulfilled. STRANGEST LIFE EXPERIENCE: Hmmm... I think I'd rather not say....Ha ha!!! GREATEST PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Teaching the Marshalltown Jazz Band at Hoover Jazz Festival. Our Jazz Band took 3rd place behind Ankeny and Valley! STRANGEST PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Probably my first gig on the Carnival Cruise ship. It truly defined trial by fire. UNI TRUMPET STUDIO MEMORIES: Having the whole studio play the C-E-G-C chord, holding the note, while Dr. G made the 4 groups go up and down by half steps at a time. Also, competing with Caleb Shreves to make the most comments during play and feedback time. ANYTHING ELSE?: Well, sure enough, I feel like I'm better at trumpet now than I ever was. I finally figured out some things that Dr. G kept trying to drill into my thick skull. I guess with enough instruction, it'll slowly sink in and magically click at random times later in life! |
