HOMETOWN: Carlisle, IA
UNI DEGREE: Bachelor of Music in Education, May 1983
ADDITIONAL DEGREES: Master of Music in Education, Viterbo University
EMAIL:
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Marshalltown, IA
OCCUPATION: Director and Coordinator of Instrumental Music, Marshalltown Schools
GREATEST LIFE EXPERIENCE: Having children who love music as much as I do
STRANGEST LIFE EXPERIENCE: Having children (I need an instruction manual!)
GREATEST PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Having concert bands the last several years that can play the great literature I enjoyed in college
STRANGEST PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Getting called to sub for a professional band playing all the big band stuff, and then showing up and realizing they were all arrangements I didn't know and I was the only brass player in the band
UNI TRUMPET STUDIO MEMORIES: Not practicing enough and getting chewed out by Bruce Chidester -- which I deserved!
ANYTHING ELSE?: It is interesting that I started college as a mediocre trumpet player and felt by the time I graduated that I could play pretty well. After 25 years of teaching I realize I am a much better player now than I was out of college, but also realize, compared with so many others, I am still just an average player |
